Woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend... Just when I thought life could not get any better I heard a knock on my door, it was Cancer.
It changed everything but not for the worse. I choose Life and Hope .
BACK OFF CANCER is what I say!

I can vote!

So it happened,... Friday , June 1st at 1130 am I became a US citizen and raise my right hand and said :

I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the armed forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.

Not much changes for me , I guess, some minor bureaucratic things i.e.: I must travel with a US passport , jury duty, etc. The biggest change that I am really looking forward is MY RIGHT TO VOTE. I am sure many of your have heard me complain that I have never voted and I truly believe is one's biggest right, the one to vote, and it has over the times surprised me more and more how few people exercise that right. In some countries, voting is mandatory , not sure if that is the route to go , but I cannot understand why some people just don't vote. They cant complain about the administration either, right?
What I know is that I will vote, from my local county officials to the big election next November. I may have to do it via mail, or maybe I will plan a nice trip here just to vote and celebrate.
So.. please make sure you all have registered before next year.
That's all for now...
AH.. an update on the "C." .. this week I will do 2 rounds of chemo, one straight into my spine because Lymphomas like to hide there so we will get it if the other chemo wont. Then I will do hopefully my last big round this Friday. Tough week ahead but all for a good cause.
much love to all

Francesca,
I am so proud of you. You are so strong and beautiful, inside and out.
I know we spent very limited time together but I want you to know that I am honored to know you. You are an inspiration to all people, whether they are going through what you are going through or their own personal plight.
You will beat this. I am confident of that. I will be cheering you on and praying for you the whole way.
All My Love,

Congratulations on citizenship -- I wish natural born citizens appreciated what it means as much as you do!

And, good luck with the interthecal chemo. I am once again reminded about how unfortunate it is that I know what "interthecal chemo" means. I'm rooting for you!
